Ledger with Handshake

Important Update: Ledger Live No Longer Supports Handshake

Ledger has discontinued support for the Handshake integration in newer Ledger Live releases. This means users who upgrade Ledger Live may no longer be able to use the Handshake app and related workflow as originally described in this guide.

Your current options are:

  1. Downgrade Ledger Live, or do not upgrade it, and continue using an earlier version that still supports the Handshake integration.
  2. Restore your Handshake wallet from the seed phrase into another supported wallet workflow if you need to move away from Ledger's discontinued support path.

Why was support discontinued? Based on what Handshake developers shared, the Ledger app had been working and was already integrated into the Bob extension, but the approval process inside Ledger changed midstream. The app remained stuck waiting for review, the prior reviewer was reportedly no longer there, and Ledger later required a new third-party audit and additional device support work before approval could continue. From the Handshake side, the frustration is that the rules changed during the process, which left the integration stuck in limbo and ultimately removed from support in newer Ledger Live software.
