Namebase Lookback 2024 and Exciting Plans for 2025

Welcome to 2025 dweb enthusiasts!! I’m excited for the year ahead, and want to kick off a Sky Include video with an amazing Namebase newsletter they sent out to bring in the new year, lets go through it.

In 2024, Namebase introduced a Bulk Transfer Tool allowing you to move up to a whopping 1,000 domains at once. They also rolled out Gateway Reclaim for a seamless migration from your previous registrar. Furthermore, Renewal Fees were also implemented to keep the ecosystem healthy and sustainable.

In other big news, HNS.ID gained a MetaMask Snap integration, launched wallet domains, and even added emoji support for HNS.ID domains. This means you can reclaim existing domains or register new ones with much more ease.

There was also the introduction of TLD Staking, which lets anyone create a web3 namespace. TLD owners can now also set an ENS Alias, making domain management simpler.

In the community, the Handshake Soft Fork released thousands of previously reserved ICANN domains. The integration of HNS.ID as usernames in Hamza Market was another big move. And let's not forget the successful HandyCon, featuring panels with MASQ Browser, Bitmain, Handshake founders, and more.

Looking ahead to 2025, the Namebase Registrar will arrive in Q1, enabling you to register domains from any TLD staked on their registry. They also plan to launch Wrapped Handshake (WHNS) on Optimism, and open a Staked TLD Aftermarket where you can buy or sell staked TLDs. Plus, new domain pages for Namebase are on the way, complete with avatars, DNS record details, and more user-friendly features.

As we toast to the New Year, let's celebrate the achievements of Namebase and all other HNS community projects in 2024 and look forward to an even more exciting 2025. Cheers to you, and thank you for your continued support."

Happy New Year from SkyInclude and the Namebase Team. See you next!
