Learning about the Impervious Registry

Here at SkyInclude, we support what Impervious has been making!

One of their more popular products is the Impervious Registry - which is a way for Handshake TLD owners to “stake” their TLD on the Ethereum Blockchain (via HIP005), “burn it” and then even buy/sell staked names.

We at SkyInclude will be following it as we go and have listed out the ones here:

Frequently Asked Questions from the Community

I’m reading up on how to stake names on Impervious to sell dSLDs and I have a few questions.

▸Is the wallet I’m connecting just for payment? Or do I need this wallet to manage the domain going forward? That will help me decide which wallet to use.

The wallet that you connect will be the one for managing and receiving the payment. With the latest updates in Impervious Domains with their Root solution - you can sell / transfer your TLD to another wallet and that new wallet would then be able to take over the payments and managing the TLD going forward.

▸How does this turn my domain into an NFTLD that lives in my wallet? Is that automatic, later in the flow of staking to Impervious?

In the latest controller on Impervious Domains, it will convert it to an Impervious Root TLD that lives in your wallet and you can transfer/sell.

▸When and how do I do things like set prices, reserve premium domains, etc?

That is done in the impervious.domains control panel when you log in to your Ethereum wallet that owns/controls the HNS TLD.

▸What kind of future-proofing does the Impervious registry have baked in?

Not sure what you mean here, but there is a public indicator to all if a certain TLD has been sent to a burn address where anyone can renew. This means that those TLDs cannot be taken back by the owner or anyone.

The main decision here - you are staking to Ethereum and locked to Impervious’s registry. Similar to staking to Namebase and more likely not able to get that TLD back later.
