2 Years Later – Scott from .wallet Experiences
Let’s dive in!
Thank you Scott for coming back to SkyInclude channel, can you believe it was 2 years now since the July 4, 2022 launch of .wallet at Gateway?
Scott reply:
Mike - where to begin - well we had you last here on the launch of .wallet, 2 years ago. The launch went really well I’d say - better than you had expected?
Scott:
Mike - Maybe that successful launch was the reason for the “heat”. So if I recall it started with a legal letter to Gateway from Unstoppable Domains, Inc to - cease and desist - the sales of .wallet right?
Scott:
Mike - now, I think this is where we can help clarify some of the “confusion” about Handshake blockchain as a tech. Gateway was a centralized domain registrar, that issued SLD (domains) of TLDs that were staked there, such as .wallet. So it could be “stopped” by the legal letter, and scaring the owners of Gateway company (which I believe is/was USA registered).
Scott:
Mike - (not sure how much to dig in, let’s feel it out) I recall you wrote a letter to the Handshake community. I read it as a cry for help, and it was very powerful. I believe that very letter reached Richard at Namecheap and he stepped up.
Scott:
Mike : so that was a very stressful few months in late summer 2022, but then things went quiet. At least on the public side, what had progressed these years?
Scott:
Mike: But we are BACK. And I’m so happy to say .wallet domain owners were able to claim their “stranded” .wallet domains from Gateway on the HNS.Id registrar. Thanks for making sure that happened and worked. How was that process can you share
Scott:
Mike - so is the roadmap / utility of .wallet domains the same as 2022? Can you give us insights on what you see the future for .wallet domains on Handshake?
Scott:
Mike - thank you so much for coming back on the Skyinclude channel. Also for sticking with the holders of .wallet as you took quite a lot of personal and direct legal heat.
Scott
Mike - So everyone, support Scott and HNS.ID and handshake in general by picking up a .wallet domain at hns.id cheers
